The Internet witnessed the circulation of 2 letters about Toll Fee exemption for Lawyers across the country which were widely circulated among the legal fraternity. On checking the same we found that one of the letter is circulated as fake news which is edited as a reply of the original letter. The original letter was just a receipt acknowledgment of letter received by the Private Secretary to Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Govt of India.

Original Letter

People including members of law fraternity started to circulate the letter by caption that ‘Lawyers’ have been exempted from paying any TOLL-FEE across India. An another fake letter was circluated as a reply of the above letter that the request for exempting lawyers for paying any TOLL-FEE has been accepted.  The National Highway authority have clarified that Toll Fee collection on National Highways is governed by National Highway Fee rules and as per these rules, Advocates are not exempted from paying Toll Fee in National Highways Fee plazas.

NHAI clarifies that the user fee collection on National Highways is governed by NH fee rules. As per these rules, Advocates are not exempted from paying user fee (Toll) in NH Fee plazas. @MORTHIndia @MORTHRoadSafety @ihmcl_official
